Party Wall Award
An Award is the document surveyors make when the statutory dispute process is underway. It is not a neighbourly agreement you download, and this website cannot issue one.
General information. Status: pending project-specific review by a qualified Party Wall professional. House-style review 27 September 2026.
Where owners do not both agree in writing, section 10 of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 sets out a surveyor process. The Award can cover how work is done, access, protections, and often how fees are allocated. Those decisions belong to the appointed surveyor or surveyors.
What you will see in the case file
- A draft with a version number, labelled until it is approved
- The drawings and Schedule of Condition the draft relies on
- A plain-English note that is separate from the Award itself
- A service log and a reminder to read appeal information in the Award, not in our summary
High-risk files need a second review before anyone is invited to treat the draft as ready. Cost allocation stays blank in any assistive draft. The software is not allowed to decide it.
An Award is not planning permission, building regulations approval, or a structural certificate.
